I have a confession to make, this week I broke our food budget by $20.00. We try to spend only $50.00 but this is the week of the 4th of July and I wanted to have enough to have some friends over for a BBQ.
We generally set aside about $20 to $30.00 for a date night every week anyway and we aren’t doing that it his week so things balanced out after all. I spent the day at the VA and I am talking about that in the Out of the Fire section of the second issue of the Searcher Magazine that is coming out next week. But I will tell you it is good to know that I am not the only one who has issues with the 4th.
Alright down to business, I spent a bit more money but I saved about sixty dollars in the process. Turkey Burgers costed about $1.50 less then beef. I spent $12.00 on 2, 3 pound Salmon Fillets when I would have spent $24.00. Even steaks were on sale and I took advantage of the fact that the 4th of July is our national grilling holiday. We also stocked up on Catfish. In short our freezer is full and I only spent $20.00 more than I would normally. Even if we were not having friends over, I would have paid $6.50 for a 9 pound Rib Roast. After cutting it up into 8 oz steaks, Kansa and I have food for the next 3 weeks. Dude take advantage of the sales.
