When I published the first edition of the Urb an Cook, people did not seem to understand that the book was never about cooking. While I may give you an occasional dish to be made on a budget, to truth is the content and purpose of both the paper back book and this blog is to help people learn to survive in spite of the cost of living.
If you are an hourly wage worker the system is designed to work against you to keep you in debt. It is my personal belief that industry has conspired with the public education system against the common man. The method of under education in the public schools has long been accredited to a lack of funding. However, if you consider who truly benefits from the socialist economic model, and how other countries who have tried it now have and average work day of 16 hours, because the worker is being taxed so heavily that they can’t work less without the loss of home, one must conclude that the only people who are benefiting from the model are the captains of industry.
Because most of us have seen the unfortunate reality of socialism in America, I had to learn how to balance debt rather than money. With our gas prices as high as they have been an our food prices going just as high my wife and I count on our credit to get through the month. To day she greeted me with “we are screwed!” After the told me the we only had $60.00 in the bank for rent I laughed because we have been paying our rent for the passed 5 years ever month under the same conditions. I know that I am getting paid the money that we needed in a few days and the late fee of of $75.00 is more than the $35.00 overdraft fee, so it becomes the lesser of two evils. Modern slavery in America is redefined by the fact the you are getting paid but only enough to keep going. Industry wants you to be in debt because that means you are more likely to go to work just to keep the cycle going. The law refers to this strategy as debt bondage. Yet we keep going to work and do our best to debt under control, hoping that the car dose not beak down or anything else comes up that could upset the balance.
The book cover above is to the hardcover edition of my thesis, which argues that many of America’s problems can be attributed to the lack of a national religion.
