Throughout history man has strived to train our youth according to the culture in which He lives. Farmers teach a child to farm, as do Hunter Gatherers, and in modern society we try to give a child a basic foundation so the child has a choice to contribute to society in the way that they see fit.

Think about this scenario: Your four year old boy gets locked out of the house. It is 110° out side and you would not be home for another 8 hours, because you got called into walk unexpectedly. When the babysitter got to the house the Boy was already passed out in the back yard. Luckily the babysitter know enough the start a lukewarm bath to put the child into to cool him off and call 911. The boy was fine but he was on the brink of death even though he had a working water spout and a shed that could have provided the shade he needed. The 21 year old Burger King employee who just wanted to keep her job, because she was raising her son on her own, never thought to teach him to keep drinking in the heat. It is for reasons like this that Kansa and I feel that it is important to prepare for the things that life gives us, no matter what it may be.
