The staffing industry has kept me working for years. But to be a temp in 2015 means that you have all the hardship of a full time worker and none of the rights. That is at least in practice, the law says that you have many of the same rights, but try to file for unemployment, or get hurt on the job and you would soon learn the truth.
In 2013 I ripped out my shoulder and the staffing service I was with denied my Workers Comp. I could not go back to work and unemployment was also denied because it was an L&I claim. The staffing service then got off Scott free. Fast forward to 2015 and I am working with a new service but seeing the same problems.
A co-workers’ injury being denied L&I along with many other factors that are talked about at TrailsoftheHeart.com, has my wife and I starting our own staffing service. We are calling it Trails of the Heart Ministries Staffing Solutions, Yes the name is long be the purpose of the move should be clear. TrailsoftheHeart.com is working to end Human Trafficking and what better way to fight the problem than undercutting the competition, who is the problem.
The Up Store funds the the project and covers the operating costs for the staffing service, The Associate gets all that the company pays us on his or her behalf. We are offering a buy into a profit sharing plan as well as 401-K and medical benefits that most staffing services will not offer. On top of all of that, we will pay for the Associate’s schooling to make them more of an asset to an employer in the future. All this is backed by an alliance of small Christian business owners, who believe that the future of America is in our hands and not the government’s.
